Luca Fumarco started to work at STATEC in October 2015. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Linnéuniversitet (Sweden). At STATEC, Luca joined the RED division and, together with other researchers, he works on the project “PIBien-être.” Within the scope of this project, he constructs a wide array of indicators to measure the well-being of Luxembourg’s residents; these indicators are meant to draw a picture of residents’ well-being that goes beyond traditional illustrations provided by only economic indicators, such as the GDP per capita.

In his thesis, he studied economic outcomes of disadvantageous treatments, such as discrimination (gender, ethnic and disability driven, in both the labour and the housing market) and relative age effect. He has researched also age and sexual orientation discrimination along with child labour. While in most of his studies he uses experimental and quasi-experimental techniques, he has also gained experience in panel data analysis of microdata.
