Copyright is intended to provide protection for the rights of an author in works of his or her “authorship”. These works must be “original” (that is, they cannot be copied from pre-existing work) and they must be “fixed” (sufficiently permanent to be used, perceived, reproduced or communicated for more than a transitory period).
