In 2020, data from the Central Balance Sheet Office were used to analyse corporate liquidity as part of the assessment of the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis. In an extreme context, where companies experience a drying-up of incoming cash flows, the level of available liquidity becomes a critical factor for survival. Its entry into force in 2011 marked a turning point in Luxembourg's accounting history. The Central Balance Sheet Office amplifies the financial information available to economic players and therefore promotes market transparency. It also reduces the administrative burden on companies and simplifies the work of the administration. STATEC uses the financial data from the Central Balance Sheet Office as a complementary source to the surveys.
