In 2018 Luxembourg paid 11.5 billion euros of remuneration to incoming workers and received some 1.6 billion euros from outgoing frontier workers. Social security contributions exceed social benefits paid to non-residents by EUR 211 million. The number of retired commuters is still relatively low compared to that of active commuters.
