The government agreement for 2018-2023 provides for several measures that will influence household spending, including higher taxation of petroleum products (fuel oil and fuels) and free public transport. These two measures have a direct impact on household expenditure: free public transport will mean an annual saving of EUR 100 for the average household, while the increase in excise duty in May 2019 will result in an extra cost of EUR 20. The impact on a particular household nevertheless depends on its use of public transport and the private car.
