We differentiate between natural movement, which encompasses civil status events (births, deaths, marriages, divorces) and migratory movement. The latter is subdivided into internal migratory movement, which involves the migration of people of Luxembourg or foreign nationality inside the country, and external migratory movement encompassing all people of Luxembourg or foreign nationality who come into the Grand Duchy with the intention of settling there and all people of Luxembourg or foreign nationality who leave the Grand Duchy to live elsewhere.
