Annual inflation rate down from 4.2% to 4.1%

In September 2023, the national consumer price index, calculated by STATEC, recorded a modest rise of 0.1%, although this concealed certain opposing price movements at the detailed level of the consumer basket, which offset each other.

For the fourth consecutive month, the trend in petroleum product prices is upwards. In September, a trip to the pump cost 4.9% more for diesel and the price of petrol rose by 1.8%. For households that have filled their oil tanks, the bill is 7.3% higher than in the previous month. Despite this recovery, petroleum product prices are still 0.6% lower than in the same month last year.
