Understanding our data
STATEC's mission is to provide high-quality statistical information. Through surveys, analyses and studies, the institute compiles statistics on the country's structure and activity, and on demographic, economic, social and environmental phenomena, in order to present a detailed, reliable and objective picture of Luxembourg society.
STATEC also centralises and exploits administrative data and tables from national administrations and ministries, thus coordinating the Luxembourg Statistical System (SSL). The data is made accessible to the public via a single platform: the statistics portal.
Lustat database
In April 2022, STATEC launched the LUSTAT database, which will eventually bring together all the country's statistical data. Based on .Stat Suite open source solution, Lustat is a visionary new collaborative platform from the OECD, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. With the launch of the database in spring 2022, Luxembourg was one of the first countries to migrate entirely to this web platform and has thus actively contributed to the development and evolution of the .Stat Suite.

Short-term indicators
The need for high-frequency, reliable and easily accessible data is increasingly important for policy-making and economic analysis. Short-term indicators track key economic developments, such as prices, employment and unemployment, on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Search by theme
More than 650 customisable and downloadable tables are now available on LUSTAT, which will be gradually expanded. STATEC tables will gradually be migrated to this database.
Some tables are still available in other formats, called "data -other formats", such as Excel. These tables can be consulted under the respective themes in the "Additional data" category or in the "Short-term indicators" section. They will gradually be migrated to LUSTAT.
The next phase in the development of LUSTAT involves work to harmonise and optimise data structures based on the principles of data exchange and statistical metadata (SDMX). The aim is to provide data and statistics that are even easier to use, read, interpret and compare, in order to provide users with a data experience in line with the principles of data excellence.
Here you will find STATEC's various areas of research, as well as statistical data, additional tables, surveys and related publications.
Short-term indicators
Here you will find monthly and quarterly statistics on a wide range of economic indicators, such as quarterly national accounts, industrial production, composite leading indicators, retail trade, consumer and producer prices, employment and unemployment, interest rates, monetary aggregates, exchange rates, international trade and balance of payments.
Economic and financial data
Access Luxembourg's economic and financial indicators, which comply with the standardised dissemination rules of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) according to the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS). The SDDS standard is intended to contribute to the availability of complete and up-to-date statistics, the pursuit of sound macroeconomic policies and the improved functioning of financial markets.
