More than 18,000 jobseekers and an unemployment rate of 5.5

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM totalled 18,198 at 31 December 2023, an increase of 2,438 people (or 15.5%) compared to December 2022. 

This number of jobseekers is up for all vacancy durations. Jobseekers with qualified jobseekers (higher education graduates) and young people under the age of 30 are seeing the biggest increases. 

In terms of occupations, the biggest increases were in construction (ROME category F), construction-related occupations (ROME category C) and construction-related occupations (ROME category D). (ROME category F), communication, media and multimedia (category E), the financial and real estate sector (category C), industry (category H), IT (category M18), accounting (M12), and business strategy (M17). 

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC is 5.5%.
