Innovation and new horizons: Renewal at STATEC STATEC publishes its activity report

The past year marked the start of a new cycle for the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques. STATEC moved into its new ‘Twist’ building in Belval, and in October 2024 Tom Haas took over as Director of the Institute. The ambition is clear: to strengthen its role as a key player in anticipating changes in society and informing decision-making. In a world characterised by growing geopolitical uncertainty and the proliferation of fake news, our mission is more essential than ever: to guarantee reliable, objective information at the service of society.

The activity report looks back on a two-year period marked by the commitment of the Conjoncture, Modelling and Forecasting Department, which, thanks to the expertise of its analysts, contributed to the preparation and assessment of the National Energy-Climate Plan (PNEC). Other achievements include the modernisation of the flagship Household Budget and Household Income and Living Conditions surveys. The report also discusses the 2021 population census, the ‘Eco, what is it? educational sheets, the “European Master in official statistics”, the Luxembourg statistical system and provides an overview of the Research department, whose mission is to deepen understanding of the Luxembourg economy and propose new perspectives for the development of public policies.
