Measuring Progress Annual Workshop
This June 2-3, leading scholars and practitioners will meet in Luxembourg to discuss the quest for better lives, how to measure progress, and tools to lastingly increase quality of life. This workshop builds upon the Measuring Progress Seminar Series, extending it to an in-person event to facilitate community building and the exchange of ideas. Contributions are welcome from both researchers and practitioners pertaining to quality of life, well-being, social sustainability, and new definitions of progress.
Over two days, there will be two keynote speakers, numerous presentations, and a social dinner. All sessions will be plenary, and speakers will have approximately 25 minutes for presentation and discussion. Presentations will be streamed to facilitate remote attendance. The fees to attend in-person are 100 euros, or 50 euros for students, and include the social dinner.

Well-Being 2022: Knowledge for informed decisions
Program (Pdf, 2.02 Mb)
In June 2022, 83 speakers, 20 attendees and 8 invited guest speakers from around the world came together to discuss questions such as: How do we promote well-being? What are the best policies? What is the role for civil society? How can these insights help us to address the environmental, social, and economic challenges of today and the future?
Participants included practitioners and researchers from academia, international and national organisations and institutions (including the OECD and several statistical offices), and civil society. It featured 26 parallel sessions; opening remarks from the Minister of the Economy (Franz Fayot); a roundtable discussion on how policy-makers can integrate the findings from well-being studies (including panelists from the Luxembourg parliament, academia, and policy organizations, e.g., OECD); a presentation of the new results from the PIBien-être project by the Director of STATEC Dr. Serge Allegrezza; an opening talk from a civil society activist (author and filmmaker Mr. John De Graaf); a workshop on the World Database of Happiness by its creator Ruut Veenhoven; and four keynote speeches by Profs. Stefano Bartolini, Andrew Clark, Carol Graham, and Andrew Oswald.
Recordings of the main events are available here.
The conference was organized by STATEC Research with support from STATEC and the Ministry of the Economy, and sponsored by the National Research Fund (FNR), Caritas Luxembourg, the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS), and Global Labor Organization (GLO).
