New premises for STATEC, the Gesondheets- a Beweegungszentrum Belval and services of the CNPDWith the structural work now complete, STATEC invited to discover the Twist building on Friday 15 September 2023, in the presence of Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and the Media, Paulette Lenert, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, and Franz Fayot, Minister for the Economy. STATEC will move into its own building for the first time in 2024. The building will also house the "Gesondheets- a Beweegungszentrum Belval" and the services of the National commission for data protection (CNPD).
A new complex in the heart of Belval
The Twist building is a new complex of around 23,100 m2 laid out in the form of blocks with green spaces, an inner courtyard and roof gardens. The complex will house the "Gesondheets- a Beweegungszentrum Belval" (682 m2), a 5-storey office building of 8,984 m2, most of which will be dedicated to STATEC, on one side, and a 9-storey residential building with 36 flats on the other. Located at 12 Boulevard du Jazz, on the rehabilitated former industrial site of the Square Mile project in the heart of Belval, the Twist building is in keeping with the philosophy of the district, which integrates work, education, research, housing, leisure and daily life.
A concept based on the well-being of future occupants
The building has been designed around the well-being of its future occupants. The building is certified to the "Well" standard, the world's first construction standard based exclusively on health and well-being. Light and natural materials are an integral part of the architectural design, enhancing the well-being of the occupants by giving pride of place to bay windows, outdoor spaces and the use of natural materials such as terracotta and wood.
The TWIST building is currently the first building in Luxembourg to be awarded WELL PLATINIUM certification.
Certified to the BREEAM standard, the world's leading environmental assessment method and building rating system, the building is based on low-impact design, adaptation to climate change, reduction of carbon emissions, ecological enhancement and protection of biodiversity.
The overall cost of the project is approximately €62.6 million.
