The reference budget for elderly people

At this seminar, we will be presenting the reference budget for independent elderly people in good health. A reference budget is a set of goods and services that people need as a minimum to participate adequately in society. STATEC has been drawing up this type of budget since 2014. The presentation focuses on the methodological and theoretical specifics of the reference budget for senior citizens, illustrates a few selected baskets and relates the budget to other indicators such as the incomes of people aged 65 or over, the at-risk-of-poverty threshold or the expenditure structure of this category of people. Finally, the SEMECO is an opportunity to critically discuss some problematic aspects of our work.
