Annual inflation rate up from 3.2% to 3.7%

In July 2023, the national consumer price index calculated by STATEC fell by 0.5% compared with the previous month. As in previous years, this fall was due to price reductions during the summer sales. Petroleum products gained 0.3% in one month. Excluding petroleum products, prices of other goods and services rose by 0.4%.

Some categories recorded sharp price falls in July due to the summer sales. Prices in the "clothing and footwear" division fell by 11.5%. To a lesser extent, the sales also had an impact on other categories, such as furnishings (-3.1%) and household textiles (-2.4%). These falls will generally be offset next month, when the indices for these goods will return to their pre-sales levels.
