Wage indexation on 1 September 2023

According to the provisional result published by STATEC, the annual inflation rate of the national consumer price index (NICP) stood at 4.2% for August. With this result, the half-yearly average of the index linked to base 1.1.1948 for August exceeds the threshold of 988.75 points, triggering a new indexation.

The new sliding-scale wage index [1] of 944.43 points (old index: 921.40 points) comes into effect on September 1, 2023, triggering a 2.5% increase in wages, salaries and pensions.

The final and detailed results of the national consumer price index for August will be published on September 6, following the monthly meeting of the Index Commission.

[1] The provisions governing the sliding salary scale system for all employees and pensioners are set out in Article 3 of the amended Act of March 25, 2015 setting the salary system and conditions and procedures for the advancement of State civil servants.
