Economic seminar - Housing in 2021: change with continuity

The economic seminar Housing in 2021: change with continuity, organized by STATEC, the University of Luxembourg and LISER, took place on July 1st 2024.

Antoine Paccoud and Magdalena Gorczynska-Angiulli presented the following topic:

Housing in 2021: change with continuity

For the time being, the population census is the only source of data that allows detailed study of the characteristics of dwellings and their occupants. The latest census reveals both continuity and change. The country's households continue to live mainly in large dwellings (54.4% of dwellings have a surface area of over 120m2), with a still significant proportion of houses and households with over 80m2 per occupant in their dwelling. However, there have been some significant changes, in particular the reduction in the proportion of houses in the housing stock.
