Economic seminar - What is the economic situation? Focus on working residents

The economic seminar What is the economic situation? Focus on working residents, organised by STATEC, the University of Luxembourg and LISER, took place on May 14, 2024.

Bertrand Verheyden and Isabelle Pigeron-Piroth presented the following topic:

What is the economic situation? Focus on working residents

One of the key pieces of information from the census relates to economic activity: how many residents have a job? How many are retired or not in paid employment?  These elements are closely linked to the age distribution of the population, as well as to the high level of immigration that Luxembourg is experiencing. The census also asks a number of questions to describe residents' employment: professional status, occupation, sector of activity and working hours. How do gender, country of birth and languages spoken vary from one sector to another, and from one occupation to another? What contribution do foreign-born workers make to educational attainment? The answers to these questions highlight the variety of employment.
