Payroll employment: +0.4% in the fourth quarter of 2023 and +1.6% over 12 months

Growth in salaried employment remained weak in the fourth quarter of 2023: a moderate increase of +0.4% compared to the third quarter of 2023 was observed. In terms of annual variation, the increase was +1.6% (compared to +1.8% in the third quarter of 2023). Specialised and support service activities (+1.0%) and administration and other public services (+1.2%) showed the strongest quarterly increases compared to the third quarter of 2023. Two sectors of activity (industry and construction) saw a fall in the number of employees in the fourth quarter of 2023.
