Annual inflation rate falls from 3.1% to 2.4%

In April 2024, the national consumer price index, calculated by STATEC, rose by 0.2% on the previous month. This trend is explained by an upward seasonal effect for travel expenses and by the increase in petroleum product prices in April.

The petroleum products index was up 1.1% on March. In April, a trip to the pump cost 4.4% more for petrol, and the price of diesel rose by 0.9%. Heating oil prices are up 0.2% on the previous month, while city gas bills are 2.7% lower. Prices for black gold derivatives in the index basket are 3.5% higher than in April 2023.
