More job vacancies and unemployment rate down to 5.9%
As of 31 October 2025, the number of available resident job seekers registered with ADEM stood at 18,720, an increase of 427 people (or +2.3%) compared to October 2024.
The increase observed over twelve months is driven in particular by data relating to the most qualified job seekers (higher education graduates, +9.4% over one year), job seekers registered for 12 months or more (+5.0% over one year) and job seekers over the age of 45 (+4.1% over one year). In terms of occupations, the data confirm the trends observed in previous months: the most significant increases were in accounting (ROME category M12), secretarial and administrative assistance (category M16), and IT (category M18). It should be noted, however, that over the year, the trend is slightly favourable for the category of young job seekers (-0.7%), which numbered 3,697 people as at 31 October.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, stands at 5.9%.
The number of new jobseeker registrations remains stable. In fact, 3,224 residents registered with ADEM in October 2025, representing a change of +0.4% compared to October 2024.
The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefits fell by 575 (-5.5% year-on-year) to 9,800 as at 31 October. This decline is part of a downward trend observed since January 2025. The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure is 4,397, a slight decrease (-2.2%) compared to October 2024.
During October 2025, employers reported 3,141 job vacancies to ADEM, which corresponds to a slight decrease of 0.9% compared to October 2024. The professions of accounting (ROME category M12) and construction (ROME category F16) recorded the sharpest decline during this month. On the other hand, the number of available jobs is now on the rise again – a reversal of the trend that has not been seen since February 2023. Compared to October 2024, the number of available positions has increased significantly (+7.8%) to reach 7,218.
