Annual inflation rate up from 1.3% to 1.7%

In April 2025, the national consumer price index, calculated by STATEC, rose by 0.6% on the previous month. This rebound is explained by an upward seasonal effect for travel expenses, partially offset by the fall in petroleum product prices in April. This change triggers an index-linked increase of 2.5% in wages, salaries and pensions from May 1, 2025.

For the second month running, petroleum product prices are on a downward trend. Compared with March, black gold products are down 2.4%. Prices at the pump are now cheaper for motorists, down 0.4% for petrol and 4.1% for diesel compared with March. The price of heating oil fell by 6.7%, while that of town gas remained unchanged. Compared with April last year, petroleum product prices are 6.1% lower.
