Annual inflation rate up from 2.4% to 2.7%
In September 2025, the national consumer price index, calculated by STATEC, showed a monthly decline of 0.1%. This change can be explained by a decrease in travel costs.
The overall result was influenced by a seasonal variation linked to travel costs. In September, travellers paid an average of 11.2% less for their holidays than in August, while airfares fell by 17.6%. There was also a decline in administrative costs, which fell by 7.5%.
Conversely, the evolution of services is impacted by the 8.6% increase in nursery and childcare centre fees compared to the previous month. With the start of the school year, the education division increased by 6.2%. Municipal taxes also increased: +8.0% for water supply and +1.3% for wastewater collection. Price increases were also noted in the catering sector (+0.6%). The services aggregate rose by 2.5% year-on-year, compared with 2.7% in the previous month.
