Annual inflation rate stable at 2.7%

In October 2025, the national consumer price index, calculated by STATEC, recorded a monthly decrease of 0.2%. This change is due to a decrease in travel costs, combined with a decrease in petroleum product prices.

The aggregate price of petroleum products fell by 1.6% compared with the previous month, mainly due to a 3.8% drop in the price of town gas. Filling up at the pump is cheaper for motorists: compared with September, prices fell by 0.9% for diesel and 0.1% for petrol. Heating oil also fell by 2.3%. Compared with October last year, petroleum product prices are 7.0% higher.

On the downside, the overall result is also influenced by a seasonal variation related to package holidays. Travellers are paying 6.8% less for their holidays than a month earlier. Airfares fell by an average of 6.4% compared with September. In addition, the change in services was impacted by a seasonal decline in nursery and childcare centre fees of 9.7% compared with the previous month. Over one year, service prices rose by 2.8%.
