Economic seminar - New Indicators on Income, Poverty and Social Exclusion – A New Generation of the SILC Survey Driven by Major Methodological Improvements

The economic seminar "New Indicators on Income, Poverty and Social Exclusion – A New Generation of the SILC Survey Driven by Major Methodological Improvements", organised by STATEC, took place on 29 April 2026 at 10AM.
On this occasion, Guillaume Osier and Jérôme Hury, with a word from STATEC's Director, Tom Haas, presented the following topic:

STATEC’s survey on income and living conditions (SILC), the main source of statistical information on income, poverty, inequality and social exclusion in Luxembourg, underwent a major methodological improvement in 2025. For the first time, it integrates administrative data centralized by the General Inspectorate of Social Security (IGSS) relating to individual income. This development aims to reduce and simplify the questionnaire, while improving the quality, accuracy and robustness of income data.

The seminar will present the methodological improvements to the SILC survey, the matching method between IGSS administrative data and survey data, as well as the new indicators on income, poverty and social exclusion in Luxembourg in 2025.
