Luxembourg in 150 maps - A new atlas to understand the population of the Grand Duchy

STATEC, LISER and the University of Luxembourg have jointly published *Luxembourg in 150 Maps: Population Atlas based on the 2021 Census*, a groundbreaking work that offers a detailed, accessible and visually engaging insight into the country’s demographic changes.

A visual exploration of demographic trends

Through 150 maps based on the 2021 census, this atlas offers an in-depth analysis of the major trends shaping Luxembourgish society: population growth and distribution, urbanisation, housing, family structures, ageing, migration, languages, employment, mobility and educational attainment. This atlas sheds light on the contemporary challenges facing Luxembourg, particularly in the areas of spatial planning, public policy and social cohesion.

The atlas provides concrete insights into how the population lives, evolves and transforms

By combining different scales of observation, from the municipal level down to a fine 1 km² grid, and a variety of cartographic representations, the publication puts everyday realities into perspective and helps to better understand the ongoing transformations of the territory.

The result of close collaboration between STATEC, LISER and the University of Luxembourg, this atlas illustrates the synergy developed on the Belval campus between public statistics, research and higher education. This publication serves as a reference tool, a decision-making aid and a resource for understanding, intended for decision-makers, researchers and the educational community as well as for all citizens wishing to gain a better understanding of the changes taking place in Luxembourg.
