Healthy life expectancy in 2011: 67.1 years for women and 65.8 years for men.
Eurostat has released the values of the community indicator of healthy life years, measuring the number of remaining years that a person of specific age is expected to live without activity limitations due to health problems. This structural indicator completes the traditional life expectancy indicator by adding information on the "quality" of life. It is calculated combining information from mortality tables and the EU-SILC survey, which is conducted by the STATEC in collaboration with the CEPS / INSTEAD. In 2011, at birth, men expected to live 65.8 years without activity limitations, while women expected to live 67.1 years.
