Panorama on the Luxembourgish working world on the occasion of May 1st

Labor Day is the occasion to present some figures on the people employed in Luxembourg. Of the 458,000 employees in Luxembourg, 46% are cross-border commuters (half of them from France). The average working time per employee has decreased over the last 50 years (from over 1,900 hours per year in 1970 to 1,530 hours in 2021). Since the 2020 containment, telecommuting has taken hold in the labor market, with 2 out of 5 employees practicing it in 2021. The latest wage figures show that the gender pay gap is close to zero across the economy.
