Reference budget
What's it about?
The reference budget is a monthly budget that aims at a minimum but adequate standard of living and that allows people to participate in society. It is presented in the form of baskets of goods and services that cover different aspects of life such as food, clothing, hygiene and health, housing, mobility and social life. It is established for different types of households. For more information, see the methodology page.
Which information can I find here?
Budgets have been established for a range of household types and person-types:
- Working adults (45 years)
- Children aged 0-18: a 6-month-old, an 18-month-old, a 3-year-old, a 5-year-old, an 8-year-old, a 12-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old
- People aged 65 or over, retired, independent and in good health
