Industrial producer price index
The Industrial Producer Price Index (IPPI) is a monthly short-term indicator representing the change in prices of industrial products in sections B to E.36 of NACE rev. 2.
Survey objectives
Production of Community statistics including the information necessary to have a uniform basis for the analysis of the short-term evolution of the producer prices of industrial products
Implementation
The IPPI is compiled according to the Laspeyres formula. The base period for the IPPI is currently 2021 = 100. The index is based on a sample of around 100 Kind of Activity Units.
Every month, the industrial units are contacted in order to report the prices in the previous month for the selected transactions.
Legal framework
- The Industrial Producer Price Index is based on the Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 on European business statistics.
- Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of 30 July 2020 laying down technical specifications and arrangements pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics repealing 10 legal acts in the field of business statistics
