Analyses 01/26 – Using administrative data to improve survey quality: the example of the SILC 2025 survey

The STATEC’s annual survey on household income and living conditions in Luxembourg (SILC), conducted since 2004 amongst a representative sample of the Grand Duchy’s resident population, serves as the reference data source for calculating indicators of income, poverty, inequality and social exclusion in Luxembourg. Originally conducted as face-to-face interviews carried out by interviewers at the homes of the households surveyed, the survey underwent significant structural changes from 2020 onwards. 
In 2020, due to the Covid-19 health crisis, the survey was replaced by a telephone-based data collection exercise. In 2021, still against the backdrop of the health crisis, an online questionnaire was introduced for the first time.
