Eco&Stat n°04-2026 - Révision méthodologique de l’indice des prix de la construction en 2026

To ensure that it remains representative at all times, the construction price index undergoes periodic revisions. An updated weighting scheme and an adapted nomenclature allow the index to best reflect current construction techniques and practices. Until now, these revisions were conducted every ten years and included updates to the weighting scheme, the nomenclature, and the reference services. European Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 on European business statistics[1] and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197[1] provide for a rebasement of price indices every five years. To align with this schedule, STATEC now conducts revisions every five years. This change ensures greater consistency between the index revision cycles and European requirements for rebasement, while also enhancing the index’s representativeness.
