Regards 18/14 - Regards sur la mortalité

At the moment, the life expectancy at birth is 84.3 years for women and 79.9 years for men. Since 30 years, the increase is 9.9 years for men and 7.6 years for women. Luxembourg is in the leading European countries in terms of life expectancy. The increase in life expectancy at birth is not distributed uniformly among the different age groups. It is mainly due to the older age groups (60 and over). The table 2011/2013 shows, moreover, that the probability of decease is higher during the first year of life than during the rest of childhood, where mortality is low. The probability of decease increases significantly in early adolescence. From the twenties onwards, it is less pronounced. From 40 years onwards, mortality is steadily increasing.
