Regards 09/22 - Towards a lasting change in continuing training in companies?

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused many upheavals within companies in Luxembourg and the continuing training component was not spared. This period brought a structural change in the organization of courses with more courses organized as online training and less training-related travel. More unexpectedly, the share of training companies remained stable (76% in 2020, 77% in 2015) despite this turbulent period. However, fewer employees have been trained and fewer hours have been devoted to training on average per employee. The share of trained people fell by 5 percentage points from 62% to 57% between 2015 and 2020, the first decline in the percentage of trained people since 1993.
