Regards 11/22 - Nearly one in two residents affected by property damage over the past 5 years

This Regards examines theft and fraud victimization in Luxembourg. It is based on the results of the latest safety survey conducted by STATEC in 2019/2020. On the one hand, we distinguish between fraud and theft which mainly affect the direct victim: 28% of the resident population in Luxembourg has already suffered theft without or with violence or consumer fraud in the last 5 years. On the other hand, it presents the thefts and frauds that affect the whole household, such as burglaries, vehicle thefts and credit card fraud. 31% of households were affected by one or more of these offenses in 2019/2020 - one percentage point more than in 2013, during the last wave of the survey.
