Regards 08/23 - VAT cut in 2023: what effect will it have on inflation?

Faced with galloping inflation in 2022, the government, in agreement with the social partners, has adopted various measures to curb price rises and support household purchasing power. As part of Solidaritéitspak 2.0, one of the measures introduced was a temporary cut of 1 percentage point in various VAT rates for 2023. This article assesses the impact of this measure on inflation.
