What types of documents are found at STATEC?
- Luxembourgish Fund: publications from STATEC and publications published in Luxembourg or abroad related to Luxembourg
- Monograph Fund (books)
- Academic periodicals fund
- Annual reports of Luxembourgish companies (CFL, Post, RTL…)
- Publications from national statistical institutes including statistical yearbooks
- Publications from statistical offices of the Greater Region
- Publications from international institutions (Eurostat, OECD, UN…)
- Scientific publications by country (academic and others)
What fields of study are covered?
- The economy in general and more specifically macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, political economy, national accounting, but also environmental economics, production economics…
- Statistics including mathematical statistics and computer statistics (R, STATA, SPSS, SAS software…)
- Social sciences including sociology, survey methods, quantitative data analysis…
What are STATEC's publications?
- The library ensures the preservation of STATEC’s paper publications (*) for over a hundred years.
(*) STATEC in the sense of the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies or the bodies that "preceded" it.

- Publications from 1990 to the present are available via the portal "statistiques.public.lu."
- Other older publications are not available via eluxemburgensia, such as population censuses, collections of statistics by municipality, or population movement statistics. These are available for on-site consultation by appointment.
What paper newspapers and magazines are available?
- The library receives paper subscriptions to Luxembourgish newspapers such as Luxemburger Wort, Tageblatt, Le Quotidien, Le Land, d'Lëtzebuerger Land...
- Periodicals are also available: The Economist, Alternatives économiques, all publications of the American Economic Association...
- A significant and old collection of economic and statistical journals is also preserved but not on display.

How to register at STATEC's library?
Registration is open to anyone:
– aged 18 or over,
– residing in the Greater Region.
You can register in person at the library reception desk during opening hours, upon request. Please bring a valid photo ID.
What are the conditions of access to the library?
• Staff (STATEC employees)
STATEC staff may freely access the library spaces during the opening hours of the Twist building (however, borrowing documents is not permitted in the absence of librarians).
• External visitors
External visitors may access the library during staffed opening hours or by appointment (bibli@statec.etat.lu ).
Only visitors aged 18 or over are admitted.
How to reserve, borrow, and return documents?
• Reservations
You can reserve STATEC books in your name by logging in to www.a-z.lu and accessing the record of the desired book.
Books are reserved for a period of 7 days.
• Loans
You may borrow up to 10 items for a period of 28 days, renewable once for an additional 28 days via your reader account on the a-z.lu catalogue.
• Returns
Borrowed items must be returned to the library:
– either handed directly to the librarians
– or deposited in the mailbox behind the reception desk.
They will then be checked in and updated on your account by the librarians.

How are the spaces organized and how can I use them?
• Seating areas
Alcoves, meeting tables, and armchairs are available for comfortable reading, studying, or consulting documents. These spaces cannot be reserved. Food consumption is not permitted; only drinks are allowed.
• Collections
Ground floor: The collections include books (including textbooks), statistical yearbooks, and academic journals. A “Green Collection” featuring documents on environmental economics, pollution, and natural and energy resources has been created to highlight current issues.
Mezzanine: The mezzanine level houses periodicals and reference works.
Stacks: Archives of previous STATEC publications, as well as a large portion of the collections (not on open display).
How to obtain a book or article unavailable in a library in Luxembourg?
The National Library of Luxembourg "BnL" offers an international lending service allowing the retrieval of photocopies of articles or borrowing books from international libraries.
Research
How do I search for documents that interest me?
The library’s collections are visible on http://www.a-z.lu, the unified catalog of libraries in the bibnet.lu network. Enter your chosen keywords and select the "STATEC" filter on the right under the "Bibliothèque" section. A help section for using the catalog is available at the top left.
As the entire collection is not yet cataloged, feel free to contact bibli@statec.etat.lu for any specific inquiries.
How to make an acquisition suggestion?
Any suggestions for document acquisitions can be sent to bibli@statec.etat.lu. They will then be evaluated by the library staff.
How to access online journals and ebooks?
Many scientific digital resources (ebooks, databases, journals) are available on a-z.lu. It is necessary to register with the National Library of Luxembourg (BnL) to gain access rights. See here for registration with the BnL.
How do I get help with my research?
The librarians are available to assist any STATEC staff member, student, researcher, or other interested person in providing bibliographic and documentary help.
