STATEC provides the public with a wide range of products and services to guarantee maximum dissemination of information. Standard and tailor-made products are distributed using various means.

Publications

The publications can be downloaded free of charge in PDF format from the website www.statistiques.public.lu.

Statistics Portal of Luxembourg

Run in collaboration with other public services, the Statistics Portal of Luxembourg is the reference portal for Luxembourg statistics. STATEC is responsible for the management and maintenance of this portal.

The Statistics Portal’s aim is to make statistical information available on line by offering users an extended range of features.

An advanced high-performance search tool allows internet users to create customised tables. There is an advance release calendar for key figures. Users are regularly informed on portal updates through a « newsletter » and RSS flow.

To facilitate the access to the portal content, the research method is based on browser logic focusing on 3 main areas:

• publications
• news
• statistical tables

Statistical information is organised by theme (economy and prices, territory, environment and energy, population and employment, social conditions, enterprises, statistics by geographical breakdown, sustainable development goals) and by subject. More than 1000 statistical tables can be accessed in dynamic html pages (multidimensional tables) or in Excel format.

Social media

You can find STATEC on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Furthermore, STATEC publishes videos regarding events on and Youtube and Vimeo.

The information office

The information office is open to the public for information on the offered products and services. It also sells publications. For shorter queries, a telephone service is available. Requests for information by letter, fax or e-mail are centralised and treated as soon as possible.

STATEC carries out research and data compilation on request. This only goes for statistical documentation and electronic files that are directly available. If the required data is not available, STATEC will redirect the information request to other sources.

STATEC also provides information on work carried out by international organisations, the national statistical institutes of other countries and EUROSTAT. An information network operates between STATEC and its statistical partners in the Greater Region of Saarland, Lorraine, Luxembourg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Wallonia.

Documentation center

STATEC’s economical and statistical documentation center (Centre de documentation économique et statistique - Cedes) principally covers publications encompassing statistical (methodology, statistical analysis, statistical data) and economical content. It includes the standard core collections in economics. This center has a library with approximately 2000 linear meters of shelving. Currently, it comprises approximately 22000 volumes of which 6700 monographs and 15000 volumes of economical and statistical periodicals. In addition, the documentation center yields a very important collection of international comparative statistics compilations dating back, in many cases, to the 1950s.

Press releases

Press release, newsletter – 2 terms for the same thing: it is the best way to keep the general public informed through the press.

Those who can’t wait can sign up to receive press releases via the newsletter of the Statistics Portal of Luxembourg. Those with a recent version of one of the common browsers can use RSS technology to receive news automatically.

Symposia and seminars

STATEC regularly organises symposia and seminars on its studies, to which it invites its institutional partners (ministries, general government, research centres and professional organisations).
