AFES

The purpose of the AFES (association of civil servants and employees of STATEC) is to strengthen the bonds of solidarity between its members and in particular to ensure the professional representation of STATEC’s staff. AFES takes measures to preserve the material, moral and social interests of its members, unless these interests are already safeguarded by other associations or unions to which the members of the association are affiliated.

AFES was registered on July 27th, 1984 as a non-profit association (asbl).

On September 18th, 1984, AFES was recognized by ministerial decree as a employee representation, in accordance with article 36 of the law of April 16th, 1979, establishing the general status of civil servants.

Excerpt from article 36:

«The staff representation has the mission to:

  • decide, from the drafting stage, on the modifications to be made to the working conditions of the staff of the administration it represents, as well as to the regulations relating to the organization and operation of the services;
  • promote professional training and development;
  • formulate proposals relating to the improvement of working conditions, the organization, restructuring and rationalization of services;
  • propose safety and accident prevention measures.»

The Association is neutral in political and religious matters.
