A word from the Director

« STATEC’s slogan 'Knowledge in action' describes exactly our ultimate goal. Statistics are not an end in themselves. They serve two functions:

Firstly, they must faithfully mirror the country’s economic and social situation.

Secondly, they must enable public and private decision-makers to take informed decisions.

The national institute of statistics and economic studies must perform two tasks: on the one hand, it must compile, and on the other, study, analyse and process the data in order to understand the economic and social trends.

STATEC is also an institute for studies and research undertaking analysis and forecasts of micro- and macroeconomic trends».
