Inflation forecast update (September version)

STATEC has updated its inflation forecasts for the beginning of August to include the impact of the recent boom in energy markets. The growing risks of gas shortages in Europe are pushing up not only gas prices but also electricity prices. The gradual transmission of market prices to consumer prices is putting upward pressure on inflation. Inflation will increase this autumn, with several increases in gas prices from October 2022 and an increase in electricity prices in January 2023.
