Bankruptcies and liquidations still down in 2022
According to the latest count from the Ministry of Justice/STATEC, 675 companies were declared bankrupt and 573 were put into liquidation during the first nine months of 2022. Bankruptcies
Bankruptcies
The number of bankruptcies declared between January and September 2022 (675) fell by more than 21% compared to the same period of the previous year. Holding companies and investment funds represent 26.2% of bankruptcies during the period under review, while 20.1% of bankrupt companies are classified in the trade branch.

Liquidations
During the first nine months of 2022, the Luxembourg courts ordered the liquidation of 573 companies, which corresponds to a decrease of 25% compared to the same period of the previous year. The companies most affected by the liquidations are those of the holding type and investment funds (45.2% of the total) and those from the trade branch (16.1% of the total).
