Payroll employment: +0.5% in the first quarter of 2023 and +2.9% over 12 months

A slowdown in the growth of salaried employment was observed in the first quarter of 2023: the salaried employment market grew by +0.5% compared with the fourth quarter of 2022 (compared with +0.7% in the previous quarter). The annual change was +2.9% (+3.3% in the last quarter of 2022).  Financial and insurance activities (+1.0%) and trade, transport, accommodation and food services (also +1.0%) show the strongest quarterly increases compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. For construction activities, a downward trend is observed in the first quarter of 2023 (-0.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022).
