Simulation of Luxembourg's economic energy transition

STATEC's data and projection models can be used to simulate major economic and demographic trends and to quantify the effects of past and future energy and greenhouse gas emission measures. The "Analyses" published today by STATEC's Conjuncture, Modelling and Forecasting Department compares the impact of the measures envisaged as part of the update of the National Energy and Climate Plan (PNEC) on reducing greenhouse gas emissions with a view to achieving the European targets by 2030. The trajectories described take into account energy efficiency, low-carbon technologies and the rise of renewable energies, and assess their macroeconomic impact. The long-term projection shows a decarbonisation trajectory that resembles a "green growth" scenario in which direct emissions are decoupled from economic and demographic growth.
