Launch of the tourism survey

On 1 October 2024, STATEC launched the new wave of the survey on travel and excursions in the third quarter of 2024. An invitation letter was sent to a randomly selected sample of 4000 residents aged between 15 and 85. The questionnaire is available in Luxembourgish, French, German and English and can be completed online or by telephone.

The tourism survey makes it possible to monitor the evolution of residents' tourism activities year after year. Tourism has an important impact on the national economy. This survey helps to understand the evolution of Luxembourg society, the changes in tourist behaviour, the growing importance of tourist travel as well as the use of the internet for reservations.

Participation in the surveys is a legal obligation for the selected persons (article 13 of the law of 10 July 2011 on the organisation of the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies). The answers provided are covered by the statistical confidentiality guaranteed by Article 16 of the same law.
