Luxembourg in figures 2025 now available

The new edition of ‘Luxembourg in Figures’ provides a 96-page statistical overview of the country and Luxembourg society. The brochure contains previously unpublished statistical data on the country's territory and environment, population and labour market, social conditions, businesses, economy and finances. International comparisons allow Luxembourg to be positioned in relation to other European Union countries and the world's major economies.

Did you know that :

  • 58.4% of trees were significantly damaged in 2024 ;
  • 6,459 children were born in Luxembourg in 2024 ;
  • 15.7% of the population was under 15 years old in 2025, and 15.2% was over the age of 65 ;
  • The average age of men is 39.3 years and 40.7 years for women in Luxembourg in 2025 ;
  • 2,567 marriages were celebrated in 2024, and 1,197 divorces took place ;
  • The average age of women at the birth of their first child is 31.4 years ;
  • In 2025, Luxembourg has 265,000 households ;
  • 33.2% of the population is single, 47% is married and 5.3% is in a civil partnership ;
  • The median income per adult is €4,233, which means that half of adults earn less than this amount, while the other half earn more ;
  • Niederanven is the municipality with the highest average salary ;
  • Football has the most licensed players (46,210), followed by tennis (13,681), gymnastics (8,588) and basketball (7,647) ;
  • On average, Luxembourg residents spend €1,292 per holiday ;
  • France is the main destination for leisure travel, accounting for 20.6% of trips, followed by Germany (12.4%), Belgium (8.1%), Spain (8.0%) and Portugal (7.3%) ;
  • In Luxembourg, 444,818 private vehicles are registered, including 32,061 electric and 57,686 hybrid vehicles ;
  • 20.56% of household expenditure is spent on housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel.
