Census data
What's it about?
Censuses enable the establishment of socio-demographic statistics that can be broken down by territorial unit (municipality and locality).Through the information collected it is possible to analyze the structure of the population (by age, sex, nationality), the situation in relation to economic life (profession, sector of activity, etc.), the level of education, the use of languages, household housing conditions and the daily movements of workers and students.
Population censuses are carried out every ten years.
Until 2011, they were performed in a “classic” way, using questionnaires distributed and collected by census enumerators.
In the last census (November 8th, 2021), STATEC focuses more on digital solutions, in particular by offering the possibility of responding via Guichet.lu and by retrieving when possible data directly from administrative registers.
