Services producer price index
The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) is a quarterly short-term indicator used for the business cycle analysis and for the deflation of production values.
Survey objectives
The SPPI measures the change in prices for services sold by businesses to other businesses. This index covers selected divisions and groups from the sections H, J, M and N of NACE Rev. 2. The SPPI is calculated according to the Laspeyres formula. The base period for the SPPI is currently 2021 = 100. The index is calculated on the basis of a sample of around 60 enterprises.
Implementation
Every quarter, the sampled enterprises are contacted in order to report the prices in the previous quarter for the selected transactions.
Legal framework
The Services Producer Price Index is based on the Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 on European business statistics.
Council regulation (EC) No 1165/98 of 19 May 1998 concerning short-term statistics
