Labour force survey (LFS)

The Labour Force Survey is a sample survey covering the population living in private households in Luxembourg. The survey provides annual and quarterly results on the labor force participation of persons aged 15 years and over as well as on "inactive" persons.

The Labour Force Survey is conducted in parallel in all European Union countries as well as in a few countries outside the EU and thus provides comparable data for all these countries.

Survey objectives

By providing data on employment, unemployment, and inactivity, the Labour Force Survey is an important source of information on the situation and trends of the labour market in Luxembourg and the European Union. The data are broken down by age, gender, level of education, type of employment (temporary or permanent), working time (full-time or part-time), and many other criteria.

The results of the survey are disseminated through various STATEC publications and are also published by Eurostat.
