Time use survey
The Time Use Survey time collects information on the time allocated to ordinary activities during a weekday and a weekend. Examples of the use of this survey include the issue of travel, which is essential in Luxembourg, the division of tasks within households, and the organisation of working time and the reconciliation of private and professional life.
This survey serves to better understand the daily rhythms of people aged 10 and over (sleep, leisure activities, household chores, transport time, etc.). The results are used by researchers, journalists, teachers and public actors.
The Time Use Survey provides policy makers with the most up-to-date information possible on the evolution of the time spent by residents on everyday activities.
Who participates?
STATEC invites you to participate in the Time Use Survey because you have been randomly selected in the National Register of Natural Persons (RNPP). Any person residing in Luxembourg and aged 10 years or more can be selected, with the exception of people living in collective households (e.g. hospitals, care homes, prisons etc.), because they are excluded from the survey population.
How to participate?
At present, no data collection is planned. The last survey on this topic was conducted in 2014.
Why is STATEC conducting this survey?
The Time Use Survey makes it possible to follow the evolution of the time allocated to daily activities by residents. It also makes it possible to compare these developments at European level. The results are used by researchers, journalists, teachers and public actors.
Your participation in the Time Use Survey is important regardless of your situation in relation to the subject. By participating in this survey you ensure that your personal experience is taken into account.
