Infographie 04/23 - Main consumer trends since the health crisis in Luxembourg

Luxembourg experienced an economic slowdown during the two years of the COVID-19 crisis. During this period, household consumption patterns changed drastically. With the lifting of health restrictions, 2022 marks a 'return to normal' for households. Nevertheless, the COVID-19 period seems to have left lasting traces, and households have not fully returned to the consumption habits that prevailed before the start of the health crisis. The recent surge in energy prices and soaring food prices have forced households to make trade-offs in their consumption. As a result, some expenses are still higher than in 2019, while others have not returned to their pre-crisis levels.
